Privacy policy
Last updated 10 July 2026.
Short version: Migla stores the character you make and your progress in the game, and almost nothing else. We never ask for your real name or your email. There are no ads, no analytics, no trackers, and nothing is ever sold or shared. You can have your character deleted whenever you like.
Who we are
Migla is an alpha game made by a very small independent team in Latvia (the “we” on this page), so EU law — including the GDPR — applies to everything below. For anything privacy‑related, write to hello@migla.gg.
What we store, and why
- The character name you choose. It’s a display name — a pseudonym. The game never asks for your real name; please don’t use it.
- Your game progress. Skills, items, quest state, where your character is standing. This is the game working, not surveillance.
- A hash of your recovery phrase, if you set one. You can optionally set a recovery phrase so your character can follow you to another device. We store only a salted cryptographic hash of it (argon2) — never the phrase itself. We cannot read it or reset it; if you lose the phrase, that sign‑in is gone.
- Chat, briefly. Messages are filtered automatically as you send them (slurs and things that look like phone numbers or emails get muffled). The server keeps a small recent‑chat log — about 1 MB that continuously overwrites itself — which may be reviewed, by automated checks or by us, to handle abuse. Chat is not kept long‑term and is never fed to advertising or profiling of any kind.
- Ordinary server logs. Like basically every web server, ours logs connections (including IP addresses) so we can keep the game running and debug crashes. These rotate away on a short schedule and are not used to identify or profile anyone.
We do not collect your email, phone number, location, or contacts. There is no account form, no marketing list, and no payment anything — the game is free.
The lawful basis for all of the above is simply running the game you asked to play (GDPR “legitimate interest” / performance of the service), and your choice for the optional recovery phrase.
What lives in your browser
The game keeps one token in your browser’s local storage so you stay signed in to your character between visits. It’s strictly necessary — it is the sign‑in — and it identifies your character, not you. A few preferences (volume, settings, your mute list) are also stored locally and never leave your device. There are no tracking cookies and no third‑party scripts, on this site or in the game.
What we do NOT do
- No third‑party analytics, advertising, or tracking pixels — here or in the game.
- No selling, renting, or sharing of your data. The only other party that touches it is the company hosting our server, because that’s where the server is.
- No emails from us — we don’t have your address.
How long we keep things
Your character and progress stay as long as the alpha world does — though this is a game in development, and worlds can get wiped as part of building it. The chat log overwrites itself continuously; server logs rotate away on their own. When something is no longer needed, it’s gone.
Deleting your data
Email hello@migla.gg with your character’s name and we’ll remove the character and its progress promptly — no forms, no hoops. You can also ask what we hold about your character (we’ll send it; it’s small) or ask us to correct it. If you believe we’ve mishandled your data, you have the right to complain to your local data protection authority — in Latvia, the Data State Inspectorate.
Children
Migla has open chat between players, so it isn’t directed at young children. We never ask for real names or emails, so we hold nothing that identifies a child — but parents and guardians: one email and a character is gone, no questions.
Changes
If this policy changes we’ll update the date at the top. Since we collect so little, changes should be rare and small.
